CALLING ALL SEWISTS!!

Welcome to our Project Dress A Girl sewing meetup in Nashville! Join us for a day of sewing, crafting, and giving back to the community. Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. All skill levels are welcome - we'll have experienced volunteers to help you out. Let's make a difference together by creating beautiful dresses for those in need. Bring your machine, fabric and favorite garment-making tools to sew a dress for a deserving girl around the world. You can bring your own pattern, work in progress or choose from a limited selection of patterns at the event.

We will be accepting pattern and fabric donations. You can also drop off your handmade dresses on the 8th or there will be an end of the month drop-off collection on September 29th 2-3 pm.

We will have ironing stations and sergers to finish seams and hems.

Let's make a difference together by creating beautiful dresses for those in need. Don't forget to bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Time: 2:30-4:30 pm

Location: Sevier Park Community Center

FABRIC: 100% Cotton is preferred. Cotton/poly blends are also acceptable.

The dresses may be washed in rivers, creeks, watering holes and maybe scrubbed with rocks. Only a cotton blend will stand up to this treatment and not badly wrinkle.

Avoid using fabric that has: Americana/patriotic; Halloween (skulls, pumpkins, ghosts); obvious Christmas (Santa, snowmen; though red/green holly or pine/berry patterns ok); Disney or any character fabric (Cinderella, SpongeBob, Star Wars etc.); food; or any printed words in any language. None of these things would be appropriate in a foreign country.

DRESSES:

- NO CLOSURES such as buttons, zippers, hook and loop tape (think of brand names like Velcro). Ties only!

- Preferrably no cutouts (sides, back, low v-necklines)

- Must have at least one pocket (2 preferred)

- Must not be too thin/see thru

Space is limited so confirm your seat early!
