Join us to sketch Seville — a living canvas of Moorish arches, flamenco rhythms, and sunlit streets waiting to be captured
Step into the heart of Seville on a beautifully curated Art Safari led by the wonderfully talented Julia Cassels. With her deep affection for Spain and her expressive style in ink and Watercolour, Julia invites guests to experience the city as artists – through slow looking, thoughtful sketching, and creative connection. This is her first Art Safari in Seville, and she’s excited to share the stories, colours, and textures of this enchanting city with fellow art-lovers.
Our journey begins as guests gather at our charming, centrally located hotel, our home for the next 4 nights. From there, we begin to uncover the rhythm of Seville, starting with the soulful Museo del Baile Flamenco, where we learn about the origins and artistry of flamenco – a dance rich with Moorish, Romani, and Jewish heritage. Later, we meander through historic plazas, sketching scenes of everyday life and iconic silhouettes like the Giralda Tower. In the evening, a guided tapas tour offers a delicious way to get to know the city’s flavours and spirit.
Each day brings new inspiration. We spend time at the Real Alcázar, a stunning Moorish palace filled with patterned tiles, peaceful courtyards, and lush spring gardens – a dream for sketching. In contrast, the Setas de Sevilla, with their sweeping wooden forms, offer a striking modern counterpoint. Guests are encouraged to capture both the old and the new, using their sketchbooks as windows into Seville’s soul.
We explore further with visits to the grand Cathedral de Sevilla and its legendary Giralda Tower, with an ascent that rewards us with panoramic views of the city’s rooftops and spires. The day continues at the glorious Plaza de España – an architectural masterpiece brimming with intricate bridges, regional mosaics, and lively scenes just waiting to be drawn.
Our final full day begins with the peaceful Palacio de las Dueñas, where golden colonnades, tropical foliage, and bubbling fountains create an oasis of calm and colour. In the afternoon, we step into the Museo de Bellas Artes – a sanctuary of Spanish painting and sculpture. As we wander through its Baroque halls and quiet courtyards, we sketch small details and soak in the artistic heritage that has shaped Seville.
We gather on our final evening to celebrate the work created, the memories made, and the friendships formed. With sketchbooks in hand and hearts full, guests are invited to share their favourite pieces over a relaxed dinner – a joyful finale to a deeply nourishing and inspiring artistic escape.
As we say goodbye to Seville, guests may wish to linger a little longer – for one more sketch, one more café con leche, or simply to hold onto the magic just a bit longer. Additional nights can be arranged for those who aren’t quite ready to leave this vibrant city of light, colour, and creativity.
