Shrewsbury’s monthly Folk Club, based at the Reabrook Social and Sports Club. This month is our first guest performer night, featuring Folk songwriter and expert Fiddle player Lauren South. There will also be floor performances from local Folk musicians and music from the Severn Folk resident band. There will not be any open spots for this month, sorry!Lauren is also running a Scratch Fiddle workshop in the afternoon for beginners and will be bringing some extra Violins with her, so if you’ve always wanted to try the Fiddle then this is definitely for you! We will be running a raffle, so if you have anything you could donate as a prize, please do bring it along. If you have any leaflets of Folky events happening locally, please bring them with you and we can put them on the leaflet table and if you have any local Folk news then drop us a message and we will announce it on the night.
The Reabrook Club is a lovely space with a bar, limited parking and is on ground level, so is accessible. Under 18s are welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult.

Ticket Prices
Concert: £10 or £9 for members (you can buy a 1 year membership for £5 at the club).
Workshop: £11 or £10 for members.
Concert/Workshop Bundle: £18 or £16 for members.
The bundle discount is automatically applied on Ticket Source but if you are a member, you will need to book via the website member booking form instead, as you otherwise won’t get your membership discount.

Lauren South Bio:
Residing in Warwickshire, Lauren South is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist renowned for her original compositions and traditional melodies. With the accompaniment of tenor guitar, fiddle, and shruti box, her songs exude heartfelt emotion and vivid imagery, drawing inspiration from her passion for the nocturnal heavens, the natural world, and her journey through motherhood. Lauren’s debut solo album, Tiny Boat, was released in November 2023 to critical acclaim, with tracks featuring on FATEA’s Spring Showcase 2024, BBC Lincolnshire and Shropshire folk shows, and BBC Introducing.
Beyond her solo endeavours, Lauren is an enthusiastic collaborator and is often found playing alongside John Parker (double bass) and Keith Donnelly (guitar).
Lauren is also a regular performer on the UK folk circuit and has been playing folk festival main stages since 2019.
