About this Event
The perimeter of any regeneration zone is where the masterplan meets existing neighbours, as the newly built stitches into less place-made parts of the city. Stratford has been one of the fastest changing parts of London since winning the Bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games in 2005. It has been re-imagined on the promise of sporting spectacle and a wider legacy for East London. Does such regeneration create exclusion or support residents in finding a lived experience that is inclusive and multi-generational?
The walk weaves a route beside Stratford High Street, with examples of speculative development, high rise student accommodation and one of the largest estate regenerations in London. Stepping off the main road to visit allotments, community gardens as well as places to learn and develop new skills that invigorate a new sense of place. Join Anthony Palmer for a walking tour that looks at what has changed, in this part of the city over the last twenty years, and asks the question does everyone here feel that they belong?
