Serious Skills Series: Become a Nature SleuthWith Laura Grace Clark
Ages 6-12
Hosted by DeSoto State Park & Little River Arts Council
The Serious Skills series is a variety of classes and workshops that provide opportunities to discover a hidden talent or learn a new skill for personal enrichment. Classes are open to local residents, overnight guests and park visitors.
Get ready to explore the outdoors like a real nature detective! In this hands-on class, kids will build curiosity, practice scientific observation, and express themselves through art as they record, sketch, and document the world around them.
We’ll try nature journaling—using words, drawings, and numbers to capture what we notice, wonder about, and discover in nature. It’s all about slowing down, paying attention, and getting curious about the amazing details around us. This isn’t about making perfect drawings—it’s about exploring, asking questions, and recording what you find.
Kids will learn age-appropriate ways to journal while using all their senses, asking great questions, and keeping notes like true nature sleuths!
