You are invited to participate in a special Sequential Intercept Model (SIM) Mapping Workshop for Sedgwick County. SIM Mapping Workshops bring together local behavioral health, criminal justice, and community stakeholders to identify resources for responding to the needs of adults with mental and substance use disorders who are involved or at risk for involvement in the criminal justice system, as well as gaps in services and opportunities for cross-system collaboration and partnerships. The upcoming SIM Mapping workshop will focus on understanding the intersections of persons living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Neurocognitive Disorders, Co-Occurring Behavioral Health Conditions, Sight, Hearing and Other disabilities.

SIM Mapping Workshops result in the development of strategies for diverting individuals in the target population out of the criminal justice system and connecting them to appropriate community-based treatment providers and support services, the workshop will include the development of a local systems map that illustrates how the target population come in contact with and moves through the criminal justice system, local priorities for change, and strategic action plans. This mapping initiative will compliment work completed in 2020 hosted by the Mental Health & Substance Abuse Coalition and deepen our understanding of our community.

The SIM Mapping Workshop will be held at The Arc of Sedgwick County (2919 West 2nd St N, Wichita, KS 67203) on August 9, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. CT, and on August 10, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CT. The workshop is being supported and organized by the Sedgwick County Developmental Disability Organization and will be facilitated by Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA).
