You’re invited to SEQC50, a 50-year celebration of the original Southeastern Gay Conference that helped shape queer activism in the South.

In 1976, the Carolina Gay Association hosted the first Southeastern Gay Conference at UNC-Chapel Hill, placing students at the forefront of LGBTQ+ organizing in the South. Fifty years later, we’re gathering again to honor that history and imagine what’s next.

Join us April 10–11, 2026 at UNC-Chapel Hill for two days of talks, panels, art, and community. Whether you’re a student, scholar, alum, or community member, you’re invited to join us.
