BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) champions bodily autonomy, with a specific emphasis on intersecting themes of Reproductive Justice, Queer Liberation, and Trans Joy through contemporary art. Over 100 artists’ visions are represented in this project: the aim is to reinforce community(ies), create safe spaces, and cultivate joy.
This project emerges as a response to a relentless wave of conservatism that continues to politicize queer liberation and restrict reproductive & gender-affirming healthcare. The overarching message of this program is broadening awareness of the right to Safe, Legal, and Accessible healthcare that allows us to live in our power and choice.
About our location partner: PUBLIC SPACE ONE (PS1) is an artist-led, community-driven contemporary art center. Its mission is to provide an independent, innovative, diverse, and inclusive space for creating and presenting art. PS1 aims to produce unique programs that push boundaries and showcase a variety of perspectives. About Project for Empty Space: Project for Empty Space (PES) is a multifaceted arts organization that includes Exhibitions, Artists' Residencies, Public Art initiatives, subsidized Artist Studios, and Artist Professional Development/Granting opportunities. Our programs lean into social discourse, including narratives that have been historically and systemically erased. We strive to course-correct historic instances of forced marginality, in-equity, and in-visibility.
