Press Coffee is hosting Charlie Morris on Thursday, September 19th to read selections from his unfinished but upcoming book "Caregiving: The Untold Story". Charlie's experience as a full-time live-in caregiver for his mother who suffered from combative dementia and terminal cancer in 2020 is what inspired this passion project. He has been taking his journal entries from that time and developing them into a caregiver support book to support others who find themselves in such difficult and heart-wrenching situations.
Charlie will also foster an open discussion around the question: "What's your caregiver scenario?" as well as sharing a new and creative way for caregivers to assess and evaluate the myriad stresses placed upon them.

Charlie moved to Iowa City in March of 2024 after spending the last year launching a conservation podcast series and completing his fourth conservation-related documentary feature film. He is very excited to be surrounded by so many writers here in Iowa City as he turns his attention to the subject of how to support caregivers for those with dementia and other long-term care scenarios (hospice, terminal illness).
For a sneak peek at some of the work he has done on this topic, here are some videos where he interviews caregivers of family members with FTD (frontotemporal dementia).

And here is the site he created in relation to his mother and her art during her final months.
