Sensory Friendly Series: Friday Nights UptownFriday, June 14, 2024 6pm - 9pm
The goal of our Sensory Friendly Series is to make each event as inclusive to all people as possible. Some people forgo attending certain viewing experiences, like movies, theatre performances, or other community events because of an expectation for attendees to remain quiet, and attentive, and doing so is difficult for them. Whether you need to move around to remain calm, or you are a mother with energetic and loud kiddos, or whatever the case may be, our Sensory Friendly Series is attentive to you!
Join us for Friday Nights Uptown streamed LIVE in a Sensory Friendly space at The Avalon Theatre in partnership with the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the City of Marysville, Haven Community Church, Derek Schwyn and the generous support of the UCO Industries.
With the house lights brought up and the viewing audio brought down (with closed captions in some cases), there is no expectation for anyone to remain seated or quiet, the only expectation is to be yourself! This viewing experience caters to those who want a more relaxed experience, where everyone who attends knows that they can be comfortable being themselves!
At The Avalon Theatre, we strive to be an inclusive and safe space for everyone in our community. We are partnering with the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities, to create sensory-friendly events and provide a safe viewing experience for the 1,131 people with disabilities in our community, and the community at large!
