Tuesday October 1st is International Day of Older Persons andCanada’s National Seniors Day.
Seniors For Climate is a project of several seniors climate organizations including Suzuki Elders, Climate Action for Lifelong Learners (CALL), Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet (GASP), Climate Legacy and Seniors for Climate Action Now! (SCAN!). On Oct 1st, 2024, we’re mobilizing seniors to bring attention to the worsening climate emergency.
In Guelph, we will join close to 60 communities Canada-wide, and demonstrate our growing concern about climate change and desire to rebuild a healthy environment.
At 2:30 pm, MEET FOR A CLIMATE WALK, a public demonstration of our concern for the climate, of our support of young people and to demand for faster and better climate action. Pick your starting point, either St. George's Square or the Covered Bridge near Royal City Park, then walk en masse to City Hall.
At 3:15 pm, JOIN THE RALLY at Market Square, City Hall. Speakers, information, James Gordon, the Raging Grannies, climate pledge and more are in the program!
Seniors and the general public are ALL welcome!
