Sengkang Snoopers: An Hour of Mystery and Adventure

About the programme

Embark on an exciting literary adventure with author Peter Tan as we celebrate the “Sengkang Snoopers” trilogy at Sengkang Public Library.

Peter Tan, a renowned author of children’s fiction, brings to life the thrilling escapades of the Sengkang Snoopers, a group of young sleuths who find themselves solving mysteries in various intriguing locations around Singapore. The trilogy includes:

• “Sengkang Snoopers: The Mystery of the Hermit’s Hut”: Follow Lee Su Lin and her brother Su Yang as they discover a mysterious hut on Pulau Ubin.
• “Sengkang Snoopers: The Secret of the Tiger’s Den”: Join the Snoopers on Sentosa Island as they uncover clues to hidden treasure from the Japanese Occupation.
• “Sengkang Snoopers: The Riddle of the Coral Isle”: Experience the adventure on Sisters’ Islands where the Snoopers attempt to protect rare turtle eggs from poachers.

The programme will feature an engaging storytelling session where Peter Tan will read an exciting excerpt from the first book, “The Mystery of the Hermit’s Hut”.

This will be followed by guided drawing session where children will work with their parents to work on drawing out a scene from one of the books.

There will be a brief Q&A segment, allowing attendees to ask questions about the writing process, and gain insights into the creation of the Sengkang Snoopers series.

The event will conclude with closing remarks and a book signing opportunity, giving attendees a chance to get their copies of the “Sengkang Snoopers” books signed by the author.

About the Author

Peter Tan is an author, scriptwriter, award-winning playwright, and adjunct senior research fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, Singapore. He was a police inspector in the Singapore Police Force in National Service, a teacher, and a journalist with The Straits Times. Peter now writes children’s stories to entertain and hopefully to enlighten. Much like the Sengkang Snoopers, he loves adventure and can’t help sniffing out fun mysteries to solve. He lives in Singapore with his wife and daughter.
