Sonja Sauer (5th Dan, Aikikai) has been studying under Jan Nevelius and Jorma Lyly for 18 years now.Sonja teaches aikido for 19 years and has led the dojo Aikido im Hof in Duisburg (DE), together with Peter Menke since 2013.
Sonja's Aikido journey began in 2003 under the guidance of Martin Glutsch, and from the very first moment she felt a deep passion for the martial art that continues to inspire her to this day. Her most influential teachers today are Jorma Lyly shihan, Jan Nevelius Shihan and Mouliko Halén.
In her practice, Sonja focuses on the dynamic movements that constitute the language of Aikido, their significance as physical communication and their potential to resolve conflicts. Her particular interest lies in the soft ukemi forms, which she has developed into a refined study of the art of falling and receiving.
