About this Event

Join us for the Easter Term Selwyn Book Talk, featuring Professor Chander Velu (Selwyn College) discussing his new book, The Business of Quantum Technologies: From Theory to Innovation Strategy (Springer, 2025).

In this timely and forward-looking work, Chander Velu explores how quantum technologies are moving beyond theory into real-world application across sectors including healthcare, finance, climate monitoring, and transport. As global investment accelerates, the book offers a clear and accessible framework for understanding how organisations can engage with quantum computing, communication, and sensing technologies.

Bringing together insights from innovation strategy and emerging technologies, The Business of Quantum Technologies examines how institutions navigate uncertainty, adopt new technological paradigms, and position themselves within rapidly evolving ecosystems. It provides both a conceptual and practical lens on what it means to move from scientific breakthrough to scalable impact.

The talk will consist of a short presentation by Professor Velu, followed by discussion and an open Q&A with the audience. Join us for an evening of conversation, insight, and informal exchange in the welcoming surroundings of the Master’s Lodge. The event will conclude with a drinks reception.

Free and open to all members of the Selwyn community and invited guests. Space is limited — please reserve a ticket.
