Self‑Neglect & Hoarding – Information and Networking Event

Venue: HARC (Herefordshire Archives and Records Centre)
This in-person event will focus on understanding and responding to self‑neglect and hoarding, bringing together partners and practitioners to share learning, good practice, and local resources.
Self‑neglect and hoarding can present complex safeguarding challenges and often require coordinated, thoughtful responses. This session aims to increase understanding, confidence, and professional curiosity when working with individuals where these concerns are present.
The event will offer a mix of formal and informal elements, including:
- A guest speaker
- Opportunities for short presentations and discussion
- Presentation stands to share information and resources
- Space to network informally, with refreshments provided
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore:
- What self‑neglect and hoarding are, and why they matter in safeguarding
- Key risks and indicators
- The importance of professional curiosity and proportionate responses
The session will draw on local safeguarding information and guidance from the Herefordshire Safeguarding Adults Board, including learning and resources relating to self‑neglect and hoarding.
This event is suitable for professionals and volunteers working with adults who may experience self‑neglect and/or hoarding, across statutory, voluntary, community, and partner organisations.
