In this workshop you will learn how to protect yourself in a space designed to empower women. This beginner-friendly self-defense workshop focuses on scenarios teaching you how to speak up, stay aware, and use practical techniques to get out of unsafe encounters. You deserve to feel safe and confident wherever you go. Build your confidence, connect with others, and leave feeling more prepared. This workshop will be instructed by Lizbeth Becerra who earned her MPH from California State University, Northridge and is currently a PhD student at University of Southern California, where she studies adverse childhood experiences and their impact on adolescent health and development. Lizbeth has been practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for more than 10 years which has helped her feel more confident and stay calm in stressful situations. She believes that self-defense skills are valuable to the work we do in public health around safety and prevention.
