This 10-hour course, led by LASA mom and certified Empowerment Self Defense (ESD) Instructor Tasca Shadix through local non-profit Sun Dragon Seido Karate and Self Defense NFP, will cover personal safety in a format particularly geared towards college-bound young women, primarily high school juniors/seniors, and their mothers. The course is intended to spark discussions about strategizing for safety, boundary setting, situational awareness, and assertiveness, as well as fighting back with power and efficiency. We will explore various levels of self-defense, including visual, verbal, and physical techniques and strategies.
As a longtime practitioner of martial arts and ESD, as well as a mother of two daughters (LASA class of '23 and '26), Tasca knows how powerful and impactful trainings like these can be for mothers and daughters to experience together.

PLEASE NOTE: To allow for a deep exploration of the material, the workshop will conducted over two sessions, with room for a maximum of 30 participants. If you'd really like to attend, but summer travel means you already know you can't commit to both dates, please consider reaching out to Coty DeLacretaz, the Violence Prevention Coordinator at Sun Dragon Seido Karate and Self Defense, NFP, about scheduling a group workshop at a different time. She'd be happy to chat about alternative times that might work for groups of 8+ people. ([email protected])
