About this Event
This workshop invites participants to rethink self-care as more than temporary relief or indulgence. Instead of simply “treating yourself,” we will explore what it means to invest in yourself—making intentional choices that expand your capacity, deepen your growth, and align your life with purpose.
Through guided reflection and practical discussion, participants will examine how self-investment shows up in everyday life—how we spend our time, what we prioritize, and the experiences we choose. Together, we’ll explore three key lenses:
Discovering Your Capacity to Grow – recognizing that growth is always possible, no matter your season of life
Building Capacity Intentionally – developing habits, skills, and rhythms that strengthen you mentally, emotionally, and spiritually
Living Purposefully – making decisions that align with who you are becoming, not just how you feel in the moment
Participants will leave with a renewed perspective on self-care, along with practical ways to begin investing in themselves in meaningful, sustainable ways.
About the guest presenter:
Jennifer E Patterson, MRel/MEd/PhDMy Bookworm Project LLCEmail:mybookwormproject@gmail.comWebsite:
Dr Jennifer E Patterson is an educator of 25 years, a teacherpreneur, a minister, a creator, and a growth enthusiast at heart. She loves being part of things that grow—people, ideas, and purpose.
Most days, you’ll find her neck-deep in her literacy specialty, helping others build strong foundations and discover what’s possible for them.
Outside of that, she’s fueled by curiosity and connection. She enjoys community outreach, domestic and international travel, museums, zip lines, cruises, reading novels and articles, diving into research and documentaries, writing, podcasting, workouts, creating cool custom t-shirts, and unwinding with Nollywood movies, afrobeats, and Korean drama. She’s also known for sending a good meme or reel on Instagram—because joy and laughter matter too.
Jennifer is deeply drawn to people’s stories and authentic connection. She believes that when we show up fully and invest in ourselves and each other, it creates ripple effects that can shape our personal journeys and impact our communities for the future.
