Sarasota Youth Opera is seeking Education Interns for our Youth Opera Summer Camp in Sarasota Florida! This is an amazing opportunity for singers and education students who are looking for experience teaching opera and singing to young performers!
SYO Summer Camp is an opportunity for young people ages 8-18 to explore the exciting world of opera. Led by a team of seasoned professionals this day camp delves into the elements that go into opera such as singing acting movement costumes wigs and makeup props a final demonstration for families and friends and more. Since 1984 Sarasota Youth Opera has given thousands of young people ages 8 to 18 an opportunity to experience the joy of opera firsthand through participation in fully-staged Youth Opera productions Sarasota Opera main stage productions summer camps and concerts throughout the community.
Camp this year will run from June 10th though June 28th at Sarasota Opera House in Sarasota FL. Interns
are expected to be available for all three weeks. Interns typically work from 9:00-4:00 PM but the exact schedule will be given out at a later date.
Position Responsibilities
• Directly assist instructors and campers in the various classes
• Assist with daily check-in and check-out activities
• Supervise and monitor health and wellbeing of campers
• Assist with daily camp operations as assigned
• Assist with and/or participate in final demonstration

Administration
• Days off: Saturdays and Sundays. Counselors are required to live in the city during the work
week but may go home during off time.
• Housing: Free shared housing provided at new apartment building owned by Sarasota Opera
within walking distance. Up to 3 in a 3-bedroom apartment.

• Availability:
- June 5-7th Intern Training/Assisting in camp set-up
- June 10-28th - for all 3 weeks of summer camp
• Valid Form of a Photo ID and Social Security Card
• No criminal record – all chosen candidates will undergo a background check to qualify them to
work with children. (Fee covered by SOA)
• Applicants must be at least 18 and graduated from high school to apply
