Seeking Safety Training
Join Illume: The Behavioral Health Center of Excellence on Thursday, May 22nd, from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. (Central)
Description:
Individuals seeking behavioral health services often have high rates of both significant lifetime trauma and substance use/misuse. These issues and concerns interact with each other and are best treated in an integrated and present focused manner. It is difficult for a person to recover from trauma while still using substances and it is difficult for a person to recover from a substance use disorder with unaddressed trauma symptoms.
Seeking Safety has a present focus approach that allows clinicians to support clients in a way that can safety address both concerns simultaneously. This training helps trainees better understand this process and learn to deliver the intervention in both individual and group formats.
This training is presented by Julie Blanco, LCSW, CRAADC. She has dedicated 33 years of her career to supporting individuals living with mental illness and substance use concerns, including 11 years as Integrated Treatment Program Manager (first at Community Alternatives, then at Places for People following the two organizations’ merger). Julie is certified as a Trainer for TREM, is Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) member, a Certified Trainer of CRA, among other licensure and certifications.
Behavioral Health professionals may apply for 6 CEUs.
