About this Event
Winter sowing is an easy, low-cost method for starting perennial plants outdoors using recycled plastic jugs as miniature greenhouses. This approach takes advantage of natural winter conditions—freezing nights, fluctuating temperatures, and gradual spring warm-up—which help break seed dormancy and produce strong, resilient seedlings. Our climate is ideal for winter sowing because it provides consistent cold periods without extreme, prolonged freezes. In this class we will learn about different perennials we can grow, the conditions they prefer, and participants can plant their own. (**Please bring your own jug or clear plastic 2-liter bottle if you would like to participate in the hands-on portion of the workshop.)
