About this Event
Seed to Harvest Passport Series
Join Texas Health Community Hope for a 4-part Seed-to-Harvest Garden Passport Series — a hands-on workshop experience designed to help our community grow together. Led by Veronica Petty, Executive Director of Simply Grace Gardens LLC, each session will guide you step-by-step from planning and planting to caring for and harvesting your own food. You’ll learn practical, affordable ways to grow with what you already have, build confidence in your skills, and connect with others who are committed to healthier homes and stronger neighborhoods. Let’s plant, learn, and grow together.
What are the 4 Different Concepts will be introduced to in the series?
April 11 - Plan & Plant with Purpose
Participants will learn which crops grow best in our Texas climate, how to prepare soil properly, and how to plant for strong growth. This session connects planting to prevention by increasing access to fresh, nutrient-rich vegetables. Participants will start their own seeds.
April 18 - Care with Confidence
In this workshop, participants will learn watering routines, soil health basics, organic pest prevention, and how to spot early signs of plant stress. Build consistent habits to keep their garden healthy and growing strong. Leave with a simple care plan you can follow at home.
April 25 – Practice & Apply Your Skills
This session focuses on hands-on practice. Rotate through stations to learn proper pruning, identify plant stress, respond to pests, and strengthen soil health. Gain real experience evaluating garden issues so to understand how to can care for it confidently and proactively. I will provide mature plants for participants to review and evaluation.
May 2 – From Garden to Table
Bring the growing cycle full circle. Participants will learn harvest timing, safe storage basics, succession planting, and simple ways to use fresh vegetables in everyday meals.
