About this Event

Join the National Young Cooperators Program for an engaging panel discussion featuring dairy farmers who will share their firsthand experiences with farm transition. This session offers a unique opportunity to learn from those who have navigated the complexities of transitioning farm ownership and management. Panelists will openly discuss what concepts and strategies worked well and candidly explore the challenges and setbacks they encountered along the way. Whether you’re just beginning to think about succession farm transition or actively executing a transition plan, this session will provide practical insights and lessons learned to help you avoid common pitfalls and build a stronger, more secure future for your farm.


Panelists will include:

  • Steve Ohlde of Ohlde Family Farms in Linn, Kansas
  • Ben Smith of Cool Lawn Dairy in Remington, Virginia
  • Myron Czech of New Heights Dairy LLC in Rice, Minnesota
  • Hannah Lansing of Blue Hyll Dairy in Clinton, IA


The session will be facilitated by:

  • Jay Joy is the founder and Managing Partner of Bridgeforth, LLP, an advisory firm that guides agribusiness transitions. Jay has spent his entire career focused on the business of agriculture. Jay spent nearly 10 years as a commercial banker providing financing to large dairies, commercial cattle feeders, and grain companies located primarily in the High Plains region.
  • Bruce Vande Steeg is an Advisor with Bridgeforth LLP, a business advisory and dairy and agriculture consulting firm. His business purpose is “Improving People’s Lives One Business at a Time.” Walking alongside leaders and employees to create functional, high performing, enjoyable businesses puts wind in his sails.
