Riesling Rivals - Clare Valley versus Mount Barker (and Yarra Valley)
Join us for a special once-only exploration into these two (three) Riesling Regions ! Join our sommelier, Antony Anderson (WSET4), for a delightful evening of exploring the history and flavours of six cellared wines, from Australia's Clare Valley (SA)and Mount Barker (WA), over a perfectly matched three-course dinner (see the line-up below).
This particular event compares and contrasts (mostly) two wineries: Skillogalee and Permission to Pivot (with a little Helen's Hill Yarra Valley thrown into the mix), and reveals how these wines are developing into exceptional wines when cellared properly.
Aged Australian Rieslings are especially revered for their long-term cellaring potential, where they transform from fresh citrus and floral notes to complex honey, nutty, and toasty characters after a decade or more. This transformation is due to their high acidity, which acts as a natural preservative.
Join us to explore these three wineries and three regions with Riesling's high acid which makes it a perfect pairing with rich seafood like salmon, which the wine's citrus-palate also compliments, hence the salmon-focussed menu.
