We are thrilled to invite you to an evening dedicated to showing our appreciation for current members + experience the perks of a DC membership.
This month, join us for a hands-on air dry clay workshop led by Jiatong "Tong" Yao.
Discover a hybrid sculpture experience inside Pam Evelyn: Salvaged Future, led by artist and technologist Tong Yao, whose work sits at the intersection of art and emerging technology. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create handmade objects using air-dry clay, which Tong will later transform into a collective digital space.
The session will begin with an introduction to form-building and material exploration, followed by guided creation time. This workshop is ideal for artists, designers, and curious learners of all skill levels who are interested in tactile making, digital translation, and the evolving relationship between art and technology. All materials will be provided.
By the end of the evening, you’ll leave with a sculptural object of your own—and the knowledge that your work will live on within a shared digital environment inspired by Evelyn’s expressive paintings and Tong’s conceptual framework.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jiatong Yao is an artist and technologist whose practice explores the convergence of creativity and computation. Working across XR, 3D, AI, and interactive systems, she creates immersive experiences that examine the relationship between humanity and technological evolution. With training in computer science and technical artistry, Jiatong uses programming as a creative tool, investigating how information technology reshapes society, perception, and selfhood. Her work proposes new forms of artistic expression for the digital age while encouraging reflection on what remains inherently human.
