About this Event
Get ready to swing into your Saturday with an unforgettable afternoon of big band jazz, outrageous energy, and iconic tunes—presented by Angela O’Neill & the Outrageous8, now celebrating 10 years of swingin’!
This month’s featured performer is John Proulx (pronounced “Proo”), an LA-based jazz vocalist, pianist, composer, and educator with four acclaimed albums to his name: Moon and Sand, Baker’s Dozen, The Best Thing For You, and Say It. In addition to touring with his own trio, he has shared the stage with legends including Anita O’Day, Natalie Cole, Melissa Manchester, Ann Hampton Callaway, and Marian McPartland. As a songwriter, Proulx has penned material recorded by notable artists, including the Nancy Wilson–recorded “These Golden Years” from her Grammy-winning album Turned to Blue. A seasoned performer and respected educator, he has appeared on NPR’s Song Travels and Piano Jazz, and currently leads his own online teaching platform, Blue Prue Music.
The Outrageous8 features an all-star lineup of LA’s top musicians, including custom arrangements by Harry Smallenburg and Rocky Davis, and music direction by Sam Morgan, son of touring legend David Morgan (Three Dog Night). From Grammy-winning sidemen to jazz veterans who’ve played with The Rolling Stones, Cher, and the Honeydrippers—this group brings heat, history, and serious chops to the stage.
Angela O’Neill, a UCLA Theater Arts alum and former classical oboist, has produced hundreds of shows with The Outrageous8. A versatile performer, she’s sung jazz, country, and rock, and currently sings with multiple 18-piece big bands. Angela is also the driving force behind Outrageous8 Records, which she launched five years ago, producing six albums for the band and additional projects for bandmates Paul Litteral and Ron Cyger.
Please note that there is a $35 food and beverage minimum at the venue on the day of the event.
