Come and meet the newly-formed People of Glastonbury (PoG) group. Find out why we felt the need to create this group and the various local and wider issues we would like to explore. This will be our second public meeting, following our first meeting on 8 March which was very well attended (100-150 people), very well received, and most likely had a big influence on the Town Council's decision 2 days later to pause their bid for World Heritage Status. You can watch the powerful speeches from our meeting and the dramatic Council meeting on our YouTube channel
In our upcoming meeting we'll have short talks on:
- World Heritage and alternatives update
- Free State of Glastonbury/Avalon
- Town Deal and more tbc
We’ll have a break for tea and light refreshments and a chance to connect, and then there will be a chance for you to share what concerns and ideas you have about life in Glastonbury. We'll also be setting up some Exploration Groups for some of the topics discussed and inviting you to join whichever, if any, you feel drawn to.
We'd also welcome anyone who would like to help us in letting people know about PoG and/or supporting us during our events - setting up, packing down, refreshments prep etc. Email us at [email protected]
You are welcome to join our events in whatever capacity suits you. You might want to just observe at first, or maybe help out a bit here and there, or perhaps you're passionate to jump in to an area you feel strongly about and help bring about positive change.
Here’s an approximate programme:
3pm Informational Talks
Q&A
4pm Refreshments
4.30pm - Share your views & invitation to join an Exploration Group
5.30pm Closing thoughts
We hope that you’ll be inspired to join us in whatever capacity works for you. Please share this event with Glastonbury friends and neighbours - we would like to be able to serve our whole community!
This is a free event. Everyone is welcome.

Here’s a brief introduction to us:
People of Glastonbury
We are a new community-led organisation committed to representing the views and interests of our town’s people, fostering dialogue and facilitating positive change. We aim to reach all sections of our community to better comprehend how local people feel about key local and wider issues.
Our aim is to nurture a real community within the town and to support and encourage self empowerment and harmonious relationships with one another, respecting any differences. Our motto: Glastonbury Voices, Glastonbury Choices!
Concerns could include:
World Heritage Status, youth provision, Town Deal, Council operations/finances, corporate planning applications and processes, 5G, antisocial behaviour, crime, parking, housing and homelessness, public transport, travellers, roads, freedom of expression, local businesses and crafts, care networking for the vulnerable, food security; and wider concerns such as data centres, solar farms, Digital ID, and Net Zero.
We are creating an open, respectful space where people can share their views, ideas, and concerns, working towards a more informed, harmonious, and united community living a healthy, happy and abundant life.
Your involvement strengthens the community voice and helps shape Glastonbury’s future.
Hope to see you on Sunday 12th April!
P.S. If you haven't already, please read our summary of World Heritage in Glastonbury and bring your questions to the meeting https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mxDjdQMBnoh53xECToS7nlPbQhdmjNyx4s8DYoFQ9nI/edit?usp=sharing - we can't take our eye of the ball here!
