About this Event

Presidential Centers and Foundations are hubs for activism and democracy and cornerstones in their communities. We’re welcoming the leaders of some of these institutions, from across the country and the political spectrum, to the Clinton Center.

Join us Monday, March 16, at noon for a conversation with Paige Alexander, CEO of the Carter Center, and Jason Carter, chairman of the Carter Center Board of Trustees. Together, they’ll discuss the work of the Carter Center and the transformational post-presidential work of both President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter here in the United States and around the globe.

Founded, in partnership with Emory University, on a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering, the Carter Center seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health.

The program will be available on our YouTube channel the following day.

DINE: Order lunch to go or dine in at our on-site restaurant, 42 bar and table, before or after the program. View the menu, or make your reservation online or call 501-537-0042.

ASL interpretation is available during our events.

This series is a partnership between the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.

More about the speakers

Since 2020, Paige Alexander has served as chief executive officer of The Carter Center, a nonprofit organization founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to advance peace and health worldwide.

Alexander has strengthened the Center’s core peace and health programs and led the organization in new directions, including adding programs to address: the global mental health crisis; political polarization in the U.S.; and the impact of climate change on global peace and public health.

In 2023, Alexander presented a TEDWomen talk on the close connection between human rights and access to information. She is the recipient of several awards, including the Atlanta Business Chronicle “Most Admired CEO" and Georgia Trend Magazine’s “100 Most Influential Leaders.”

Before joining The Carter Center, Alexander had a distinguished global development career, with more than two decades of experience in the government and nonprofit sectors, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); IREX, an international civil society, democracy, and education nonprofit organization; and the European Cooperative for Rural Development (EUCORD). Prior, Alexander served as director of Project Liberty at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a consultant to institutions including the C.S. Mott Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the Open Society Institute in Prague.

Alexander currently serves on the boards of the Romanian American Foundation, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, the ADL Southeast Region, and the Free Russia Foundation, and as an advisory board member of several human rights organizations.

Jason Carter is the Chairman of the Carter Center Board of Trustees and a partner at the law firm of Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore, LLP in Atlanta, Georgia, where he represents clients in high-stakes business litigation. As the grandson of the Carter Center’s founders, Jason has been involved with the Center’s programs for 20 years, working to advance peace and health across the globe. Prior to becoming Chairman of the Board, he oversaw the Center’s strategic planning and participated in the Center’s programs in Liberia, Egypt, Myanmar, and the West Bank/Gaza.
