Workshop Description: Part 1
The workshop will start with an introduction to the art of seaweed pressing and sustainable seaweed foraging.
The crash course on pressing technique will take about 30 minutes. Sasha will bring her "handmade from recycled materials" press, explain how to build a press, show you all the materials needed to press seaweed, and describe how to press a few different seaweed varieties.
Students will learn a few tricks and secrets of successful pressing and storing pressed seaweed.
Freshly foraged seaweed and other materials for successful pressing will be provided.
Part 2:
“Seaweed artwork": Make your own Botanical collage (8x10”) ready to frame
Sasha will provide all necessary materials (hand-pressed seaweed, watercolour paper, brush, glue, and frame 8x10”) and most importantly gently guide you through creating a piece of art ready to frame.
