Season 2 of The Religion Business - Early Viewing Party and Q&A
* An Invitation to Bring Others Along
Friends,
Something meaningful was ignited when Nathan Apffel—two‑time Emmy Award–winning documentarian and creator of the viral series The Religion Business—joined us in Houston this spring. What began as conversation became conviction. There was a shared sense that God is moving, and Houston is part of it.
We’re excited to share that Nathan is returning to Houston on Sunday, May 31, and this gathering will be significant.
Nathan will offer a first look into Season 02 of The Religion Business and share what his team has been uncovering behind the scenes. Season 01 sparked a national dialogue, challenging institutional Christianity to return to a more Christ‑centered foundation. Its impact went far beyond awareness—helping expose abuses of power, including the horrors uncovered at Camp Kanakuk, and contributing to the momentum behind Trey’s Law, sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz, protecting survivors of sexual abuse from being forced into silence through NDAs.
That commitment to truth and reform continues. Nathan and his team are currently engaged in work tied to Texas‑based reforms following the tragic Camp Mystic flooding, asking hard questions about responsibility, safety, and the Church’s moral witness in moments of loss.
Season 02 moves from exposure to lasting impact.
Because this season centers on survivor stories and deeply personal material, the team has made a convictional decision:
Season 02 will not be behind a paywall. The Gospel demands access, and cultural change requires openness.
In the months ahead, Nathan and his team will be traveling internationally, including to the Middle East, going straight to the source. Some of what’s unfolding can only be shared in person. What we can say is this—God is clearly opening doors.
Season 02 is intentionally aimed at re‑orienting the Western Church toward a missions‑focused faith grounded in The Great Commission—serving the poor, the orphaned, survivors of trafficking, and those in Pr*son.
Nathan will also share firsthand experiences from the frontlines of the sex‑trafficking epidemic, including walking the streets of Los Angeles with exploited women—many of whom are from Houston. This is sobering, urgent, and calls the Church back to what it was always meant to be.
The first episode of Season 02 drops in July, with the trailer releasing at the end of May. National platforms are already scheduled, including interviews with Shawn Ryan, Tucker Carlson, and others.
What makes this especially meaningful:
These Houston gatherings are the first of their kind. They are happening because of a friendship developed, trust, and a belief that revival culture is rising out of Houston.
Because Nathan and his team will soon be traveling internationally for several months, this may be the last opportunity for a while to gather like this in person.
We want to encourage you—not only to come—but to invite others: friends, pastors, business leaders, ministry partners, and anyone who cares deeply about the future health and witness of the Church.
This is more than an event.
It’s an invitation to step into a movement.
Join us on Sunday, May 31
Come listen. Come discern. And consider who else God might be inviting through you.
