Join us on our search for the rare Echinodontium ballouii that only grows on Atlantic White Cedar in the winter and early spring. We'll spend some time talking about why it is so rare. There are no guarantees but there are other fungi to be found even when there is snow on the ground.CORRECTION: It does not fruit only in winter and spring, but the freezing weather allows us closer access to these trees that grow in bogs and swamps. Thanks to Bill Neill for that info!
Bring waterproof boots and binoculars if you have them. They grow high up on the trees.
