Grab you magnifying glasses and bring your curious minds for some marine citizen science!Join the team at the Marine Discovery Centre for a morning of interactive fun, marine-based exploring and learning, followed by a guided beach marine trail on Henley Beach. Learn how anybody can help record biodiversity in nature using iNaturalist and add to our project to document all the amazing beach creatures and plants that wash up along Henley Beach,
During the session, you will have access to a variety of interactive discovery stations including Kaurna learning, sea aquariums, virtual reality headsets, and hands-on interactives and meet the team from the Marine Discovery Centre.
Community events in 2026 are kindly sponsored by Community Bank West Beach.
Parents and carers can prepare for this event by downloading the iNatualist app on your smartphone. Alternatively, staff will have tablets for use in small groups.

* Kaurna Education Room (The Wodli) is an interactive room which highlights the relationship that Kaurna people have with the Adelaide Plains and the coast.
* Interactive models featuring our diving games, beachcombing game plus oceanography, sounds of the ocean game, fish schooling experience, climate change interactive, marine debris, marine habitats, touchscreens, sustainable fishing, stormwater, beachcombing, and get hands-on with our microscopes.
* Henley Beach Marine Trail 11.15 - 12.00pm (if weather permits) with biodiversity surveys and citizen science
* Each ticket holder will receive a free beachcombing sheet to take home

COST
$16.50 per child (children 3 and under are free of charge)
* Please note: Tickets are only required for children, one parent per child (multiple children are allowed though). Parents must order their ticket (free of charge) when purchasing tickets for children. Parents must stay with children throughout the session. Children under 3 years of age are free of charge when attending with a paying child
