About this Event

The SE Practitioner Series is a set of highly informative, small group workshops which take a deep dive into the strategic business functions that are most relevant to social entrepreneurs and social enterprise practitioners. Combining practical instruction with open group dialogue, each 2-hour session explores the core concepts, frameworks and approaches that will help move your social enterprise/social purpose business from strategy to action.

The series is designed to appeal to both experienced social entrepreneurs as well as more junior practitioners looking to develop their understanding in a particular area.

Two workshops are being offered currently:

  • Sales Essentials - Tuesday, May 21 from 2pm - 4pm
  • Pricing Strategy - Tuesday, June 4 from 2pm - 4pm

Workshops are being held in-person at Bayview Yards, 7 Bayview Station, Rd., Ottawa to maximize the benefits that only come through face-to-face interaction.

Each workshop is $20 +HST with a 25% discount available if you attend both sessions.

Workshop 1: Sales Essentials

Essential lessons and tools to deliver big results.

About the Workshop

An organization needs sales revenue to survive. Yet, many businesses launch without understanding the basics of selling and a well-developed sales strategy. This workshop will introduce you to the sales process, providing you with an in-depth introduction on how to develop a successful sales plan. Using a discussion format complemented with pre-workshop assessment and hands-on exercises during the workshop, the session will help you understand on how to create a sales strategy for your business. The workshop focuses on four key areas:

  • Introduction to selling
  • B2B and B2C approaches to selling
  • In-depth discussion and exercises on sales methodology
  • Critical concepts of customer acquisition cost and customer lifetime value.

Participants will finish with a clear understanding on developing a sales strategy and where and how they need to focus their efforts.

About the Workshop Leader

Len Fardella has over 30 years experience in marketing, business development and sales having worked with both large and small sales organizations as well as running his own business. He has led product market launches and coordinated sales across three continents, owned both marketing and sales in small startups and owns all roles running his own business. There is no other group in a business that he respects more than the sales team.

About the Workshop

Arguably the most important of the four Ps, establishing the right price for your product is vital to customer satisfaction, competitive differentiation and long term viability for your business. In this workshop, we will discuss:

  • How to determine a price for your product or service
  • When to use different pricing models and strategies
  • The direct relationship between pricing and the rest of your business strategy
  • When you know you pricing strategy is working or not working

Participants will leave this session with tools and actions that they can immediately take away to use pricing to accelerate the growth of their enterprise.

About the Workshop Leader

Mark Cassetta is the Chief Product Officer at Axiomatics, a software company focused on helping organizations put authorization first. Mark has held leadership roles throughout his career across product management, strategy, M&A, business planning, business transformation, customer success, sales and marketing. His passion is to lead businesses and social enterprises to carry out their growth and strategic goals, achieve product goals, and build high preforming teams.
