MAR 2 | 3 PM | THE MORE THE MERRIER (1943)
In this screwball comedy classic directed by George Stevens, the housing shortage in WWII-era Washington, D.C., sets the stage for romantic chaos. Jean Arthur plays a young woman whose apartment becomes unexpectedly crowded when a retired millionaire matchmaker, played by Charles Coburn (in an Oscar-winning performance), meddles in her love life. With sharp dialogue, clever misunderstandings, and unexpected heart, this film perfectly captures the screwball spirit.
