Learn the fundamentals of screenwriting with Briauna Skye, a Portland Based single mom who set out to self-produce their first feature.
About this Event

About the event:

Using Jordan Peele’s award-winning script “Get Out” as an example, Bri will teach beginning screenwriters about the fundamentals of screenwriting (formatting and structure). Following the lesson, writers may break into small groups, or write independently, to create a scene before sharing their work with the group. To close out, Bri will share clips from their ongoing progress on their first feature length film.

During the event, original art by friend and co-creative, Jonny Cool, will be on display in the gallery.

This event is made possible due to the generous support of Friends of IFCC. The event is free, but donations are happily accepted and will go toward outstanding production costs (including the other artists involved in Killing Kyle film) and refreshments for the event.

About Bri

Bri is a multi-disciplinary creative who has intermittently worked in the Commercial and TV industry since 2016. Possessing an MFA in screenwriting, they hope to impart some of what they have learned in hopes of “paying it forward” to those who may not have had the time or access to learn in a traditional classroom. This first cable brat screenwriting workshop is meant to be relaxed and fun.

Though currently on pause due to funding, follow @killingkylefilm on IG to lurk on their progress for Killing Kyle, a dramedy about Black siblings on a roadtrip from Kansas City to Portland, OR.

Access questions: The space is wheelchair accessible with an elevator in the space with bathrooms on 1st and 2nd floor. Limited free parking in lot and free street parking. The workshop will take place in the gallery space upstairs.
