Utilizing the traditional 12 beat story paradigm and his own anecdotal writing experiences, Charles reveals the hero's journey in storytelling and breaks story down to the innate conveyance of what humans have passed on orally, pictorially and on the printed page since the beginning of mankind.
The course is conducted in a nurturing environment where all storytellers and stories are valid. We will explore theme, character, structure, dialogue, plot and format in a positive way to help all writers - no matter what their skill level is - create their own personal stories and commit their concepts to the page in a first draft script or a strong outline/treatment.
Some writer's bring their first draft scripts to further tweak them, while others begin with an empty page and in the very least create a beat sheet (outline), a treatment or a first act of an original script. While in a group setting, I emphasize proper format continuously and offer praise for what is working and creative ideas to fix what is not working.
Over the past thirty-five years, Charles has taught this process to over 1,000 aspiring writers — many whom have won awards or produced scripts that they wrote or rewrote during the eight-week course.
A payment program is available to help facilitate those who need more time to make full payment. For those who wish to utilize the payment plan here follows the schedule:
