About this Event
- This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to sharpen their visual storytelling skills through original writing exercises that highlight various screenwriting techniques. We will provide notebooks and pens; participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop/tablet if they prefer typing.
- INSTRUCTORS:
- Leah Ly graduated from Rowan University with a BA in Radio/Television/Film with a Creative Writing concentration, and has spent a decade professionally entrenched in nerdy and creative spaces. For the past few years, tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) have been her happy place. Her passion for character crafting, worldbuilding, and collaborative storytelling combined with her deep commitment to performance has been the cornerstone of her approach to every game. Leah wrote and performed her first original theatrical piece in spring 2023 and has been appearing in independent theatre in the DC metro area ever since.
- Melanie Howard is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared online and in print in Time.com, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, SELF, Seventeen, Parenting, Good Housekeeping, and other major publications. She is the co-author of the satirical novel, Queen of the Court (2013) and her second novel, a mystery set at a girls’ boarding school in 1963, is in the publication process. Melanie is an honors graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in General and Comparative Literature.
