Melbourne/Naarm post-punk band screensaver are bringing their high energy live show to Dissent Bar to launch their third album Three Lens Approach on November 30. Taking cues from the late 70’s and early 80’s, screensaver delivers a third LP that builds on its predecessors. Asymmetrical song structures are propelled forward by a danceable rhythm section weaving through polyrhythms of classic synth sounds and frenetic guitars. The album’s theme is power; how we wield it through language and action, how society is affected by existing power structures, the consequences of the absence of it and how we harness it, as individuals and as the collective. The lyrics explore the theme through societal observation, miniature character portraits and vignettes of stolen scenes from everyday life/conversations. Weighty themes delivered via dark but danceable music. Recorded by Julian Cue and mastered by Casey Rice, Three Lens Approach is released via Poison City Records.
