About this Event

Dear friends, we invite you to a screening of the film “Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors” in Liverpool.

The event is organised by Kryla Culture, a charitable organisation in the UK, and supported by the Watch Ukrainian Association, with the support of the MHP–Hromadi Charitable Foundation and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in cooperation with AUGB Liverpool branch and the Museum of Liverpool.

A special screening of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, the internationally acclaimed 1965 masterpiece directed by Serhii Parajanov. Set in the breathtaking Carpathian Mountains, the film tells a timeless story of love, loss, and destiny within the rich traditions of the Hutsul culture.

Renowned for its groundbreaking cinematography, vibrant colors, and poetic storytelling, this visually stunning film is considered one of the most important works of Ukrainian cinema. Experience a powerful tale that blends folklore, music, and myth into an unforgettable cinematic journey.
