About this Event
This is a free but ticketed screening organised by Screen Academy Scotland in the context of different activities around Sustainable Materials and Approaches in Film.
Itu Ninu is a science fiction film. The story unfolds in 2084 and follows the journey of two climate migrants, Ángel and Sofia, whose paths intersect, revealing a shared connection through the Mixtec language. Exchanging letters, an art form lost in their meticulously surveilled smart city, they look to each other for connection and, beyond that, liberation from their desolate and oppressed lives.
Itu Ninu highlights the interconnections of climate change, surveillance, and migration with the Indigenous experience. It was produced with sustainability in mind, using existing locations, props, and wardrobe to combine artistic expression with environmental responsibility
