About this Event
The Garden Cinema is back this Summer!!!!
"Montoneros, una historia" is an Argentine documentary directed by Andrés Di Tella based on his own script written in collaboration with Roberto Barandalla about an investigation by the latter, which was commercially released in 1998 after being screened by the Telefe television channel and in various cultural cycles.
Ana, a former mononera, evokes the experience of Argentina's violent years in the Montonero movement with the eyes of the present and with the questions that have not yet been answered. A personal and collective story at the same time, it evokes the tumultuous days of his youth, from his entry into the University to his confinement in the Navy Mechanics School, and from his relationship with Juan, a convinced combatant, to the birth of their daughter. The film threads together the remaining testimonies and images taken from newsreels and videotapes that reproduce faces and key episodes from those years.
The screening is for a small group in an open air space with roof protection.
We will be raising funds for Tomasote de Guayana, an agrarian collective in Venezuela and an autistic school outside UK.
The film will have English Subtitles. There will be drinks and snacks for sale on the night.
