SAVE THE DATE!Thursday night October 16 at 7 pm the PAC invites you to come and see the movie Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age. All Oak Bay HS families are invited to come view the movie with your teens, at the Dave Dunnett Theatre at Oak Bay High School.
Trailer available at https://www.screenagersmovie.com/about-screenagers
In this movie filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level. Supported with the latest science, research, and expert insights, this award-winning film probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world.
Dr Ruston is also the author of an immensely helpful book published in 2020 - Parenting in the Screen Age: A Guide for Calm
Conversations. And if you podcast then look for the Screenagers podcast, with interviews of researchers, thought leaders, and young people themselves, exploring strategies for raising screen-wise and tech-balanced youth.
This event is jointly organized by PACs from Oak Bay High and Monterey and Lansdowne Middle Schools. No tickets are required. Screening time is 1 hour, and after the show we will host a discussion exploring some of the themes presented in the movie. Your reactions and input plus those of your teens will be valuable to us all.
Hope to see you there in October!
