Have you ever been in a room with 300 Rubik's cubes? Our guess is probably not. While on its own that is surely enough to entice a visit to Mirage Bar, what if we told you there will be a famous face emerging in the space too? Brilliantly playful and an incredibly satisfying watch, you'd better be there or be square!
Spontaneous Generation 8:45-9:20pm
Audience participation and improv, pure and simple!
Comedy, improv, cabaret, music, clown, sketch, stand-up, and drag. Spontaneous Generation use comedy and audience interaction in order to inject a little avant garde. Playing with tech and sound, using costume and props, all you can do is expect the unexpected!
Johanna Leung 9:30-10pm
Join us for a comfortably uncomfortable cross-disciplinary experimental performance experience that explores the nature of life, human insecurity and environment. Together with visuals created by Alice Vincent-Barwood, Johanna will bring you original composition and performance (clarinet, objects with recorded track) while experimenting with sound in Mirage Bar on the spot. Experience the premiere sketch of the complete repertoire that will be performed at the Reimagined City Festival.
About Scratch:
Taking place on the last Thursday of every month until April 2025, Short Supply's Scratch Nights at Mirage Bar offer a monthly dedicated space for live artists and performers to test out new and developing ideas.
These events are a chance for creatives to show their stuff in front of a live and supportive audience, with a social afterwards to network and receive feedback!
The vibe will always be informal, and you'll get a unique look into the world of local artists, watching them test ideas in real time, experiment, take risks and share their new work with peers and the public. You'll have the opportunity to network with artists and guests and contribute your ideas and feedback to help performers develop.
There will be three performances at each event from 8-9:30pm and a social with DJs from 10-11pm.
Mirage Bar is a fully wheelchair accessible venue via a permanent ramp and has an accessible indoor toilet.
