On Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) presents its second Gold Palette ArtWalk of the year — Demonstrate: Sculpture. This event takes place throughout the Scottsdale Arts District, which runs along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School Road on Marshall Way to 5th Avenue. In addition, many SGA member galleries will host their own in-gallery events that align with the Gold Palette ArtWalk theme.

“Our Demonstrate: Sculpture event gives the public an in-depth look at the processes sculpture artists take while creating 3D artworks,” said SGA President Jinger Richardson. “We invite local art lovers, residents and visitors to join us for this engaging and eye-opening event.”

During the event, guests can enjoy live music throughout the Scottsdale Arts District as well as live sculpture demonstrations within participating SGA member galleries. Details of experiences taking place within individual SGA member galleries in alignment with the Gold Palette ArtWalk are as follows:

Altamira Fine Art

7038 E. Main St.

Anticus

3922 N. Scottsdale Rd.

Anticus will feature the works of sculptor Jason Napier, who creates whimsical and expressive wildlife sculptures that bring smiles to people’s faces. The animals he brings to life exude personality and always harness a colorfully rich patina. Napier discovered his talents 25 years ago while working in a bronze casting foundry as a means to pay for college. The process of casting and applying patinas was so inspiring to him that he began spending late hours after work creating and casting his own pieces. Developing his unique style as a canvas for his trademark patinas was the “aha” moment that has taken him to global notoriety. During the ArtWalk, guests can watch as Phillip Payne, Anticus owner and sculptor, demonstrates live sculpting.

Gebert Contemporary

7160 E. Main St.

Gebert Contemporary is pleased to present “Of Rabbits and Roses,” an exhibition of recent paintings by Phoenix-based artist John Randall Nelson. “Of Rabbits and Roses” showcases a body of work rooted in folk and outsider art traditions, where imagery is shaped by intuition, memory and personal logic — and encourages a renewed way of seeing ordinary wonders. The exhibition will be on view at the gallery from Thursday, Feb. 5 through Tuesday, March 3, with an opening reception on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 12.

King Galleries

7077 E. Main St., #20

In honor of this Gold Palette ArtWalk theme, King Galleries presents “From Clay to Bronze,” a collection of works including bronzes by Tammy Garcia (Santa Clara), Autumn Borts-Medlock (Santa Clara) and Jared Tso (Navajo).

Legacy Gallery

7178 E. Main St.

Legacy Gallery invites guests to the opening night of “Light, Land & Legacy: The Art of Kyle Ma,” a rare opportunity to experience the work and process of one of today’s most celebrated young painters. Born in 2000 and trained under master artists across the country, Ma combines the technical mastery of the Old Masters with a fresh, contemporary eye. Known for his award-winning plein air landscapes and his ability to capture light and atmosphere with striking authenticity, Ma approaches painting as both an artistic and scientific pursuit, drawing on his background in geology to inform his careful observation of the natural world. A Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America and Plein Air Painters of America, his work has been featured in major art publications and exhibitions nationwide.

The Marshall Gallery

7106 E. Main St.

During the ArtWalk, The Marshall Gallery presents “2D Goes 3D: Painters in the Round,” an exhibition exploring the dynamic relationship between painting and sculpture, and the space between surface and structure. This show highlights a multidimensional practice in which color, form and material move fluidly between two- and three-dimensional expression. Featured artists include Kathy Taylor, Michael Lotenero, Mary Neville and Josh Hernandez.

On the Edge Gallery

7045 E. Main St.

The works of artists Kimberly Curry-Pieper, MJ Okama and Joanna Pregon will be highlighted at On the Edge Gallery. Curry-Pieper’s creative process mixes wheel throwing and hand building. The artist’s use of glazes and atmospheric firing creates lively and spontaneous surfaces that complement her sculptural forms.

As a silk painter, Okama is captivated by the interplay of light, color and movement found in nature. Okama’s art is rooted in traditional Japanese silk painting techniques, enhanced by a contemporary aesthetic that embraces saturated jewel tones, shimmering metallic outlines and unexpected textures. The artist creates vibrant, layered landscapes and botanicals that celebrate beauty, wonder and joy.

For Pregon, creating art is a vital outlet and a reliable tool for processing life’s challenges and joys. The act of painting allows her to let go of deep emotions while reaching for understanding and peace.

The Signature Gallery

7177 E. Main St.

The Signature Gallery is pleased to present “Retrospective,” an inspiring and distinguished collection of bronze sculptures by Star Liana York. This exhibition commemorates York’s 50-year artistic journey — from her early miniature wax castings to monumental bronzes that reflect her deep connection to the American Southwest. York’s bronzes explore themes ranging from the Peoples of the American Southwest and ancient rock art to wildlife and evocative equine forms — a testament to her lifelong passion and creative explorations.

Wilde Meyer Gallery

4142 N. Marshall Way

Wilde Meyer Gallery will feature “Sculpture Scottsdale,” an exhibition featuring works by talented sculptors including Jim Budish, Barbara Duzan, Manny Valenzuela, David Manje and more. This show will run from Thursday, Feb. 5 through Thursday, Feb. 26, with a reception on Thursday, Feb. 12 coinciding with the Gold Palette Artwalk.

Held nearly every Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in partnership with the city of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s weekly ArtWalk highlights the finest art in Scottsdale, featured throughout more than 30 galleries and two museums: Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.

In addition, the SGA’s Gold Palette ArtWalks take place multiple times throughout the year, featuring extended hours, a dedicated theme that often aligns with citywide events, specialty activities including entertainment, refreshments, demonstrations, and more.
