Course Overview:
This three-part, mountain-focused outdoor photography workshop is designed to prepare you for a season of capturing the Pacific Northwest’s stunning landscapes. Led by Scott Kranz Photography and hosted by Glazer’s Camera, this series will equip you with the gear knowledge, trip-planning skills, and creative techniques needed to make the most of the fair-weather months.
Whether you're shooting mountain landscapes, forest scenes, water features, or the night sky, this course will provide practical insights and hands-on instruction to refine your approach and elevate your outdoor photography.

Workshop Sessions:
📷 Session 1 – May 7: Maximizing Your Gear Kit: Selecting, Packing & Carrying Essentials
- How to curate a versatile and efficient outdoor photography kit.
- Choosing the right cameras, lenses, tripods, and accessories for mountain photography.
- Packing smart for day hikes and overnight trips—balancing weight, accessibility, and protection.
- Systems for carrying and protecting gear in the field.
- Live demonstrations with camera bags, holsters, and accessories available at Glazer’s.
🗺️ Session 2 – May 14: Trip Planning, Camera Settings & Customization
- Researching and planning techniques for finding the best photo locations.
- Essential navigation and weather tools to track conditions and optimize shooting days.
- Best times and locations in the PNW for capturing seasonal highlights.
- Crafting a flexible itinerary that allows for spontaneity and creativity.
- Key camera settings for outdoor photography, from exposure to focus modes.
- Customizing your camera setup for efficiency and speed in the field.

- Hands-on session exploring lighting, composition, and storytelling.
- Maximizing natural light—techniques for shooting in various conditions.
- Composition approaches for mountains, forests, and water features.
- Creating visual journeys and elevating your storytelling.
- Key photography techniques for adventure, astrophotography, and beyond.


About the Instructor: Scott Kranz
Scott Kranz is a Seattle-based photographer, filmmaker, and educator, specializing in outdoor adventure and mountain landscapes. Born and raised in Minnesota, Scott moved to Washington State in 2013 and first explored the Cascade Range, which sparked a lifelong love of the mountains and outdoor photography. Since then, Scott has used his creative vision, talent, and professionalism to become an industry leader, partnering with the world’s top outdoor and tech brands while shooting on all Seven Continents. In the event of a refund, Eventbrite Fees are not refundable. Eventbrite fees are only refunded if an event is canceled.
We will issue a full refund up to 4 days before the event date; or a 50% refund up to the day of the event, if however we are able to fill the spot, we may issue a full refund. No-shows will not be refunded. Refunds are unavailable post-event date.
