It's hard to describe how excited we are to have St. Francis Winery here at Scopo Divino. I personally have a handful of remarkable experiences from my visits there. Some that shifted how I approach wine. One that helps define how we do our wine club here. To give full weight to their importance to us here: they have been featured on our mural since our opening. It was so fun to taste for this event with their President & Ceo, Rick Bonitati and see the excitement on his face when we he saw the mural. Let's just say this one is a long time coming, and a true culmination of our relationship to wine here at Scopo Divino.
This June, Scopo Divino is proud to present "Best Woman Winemaker" award winner, Katie Madigan and St. Francis Winery. We will be experiencing four of their exceptional wines, paired with an amazing three-course meal crafted by celebrity guest Chef and legend, Erik Hopfinger.
The Event
This will be a Three Course Tasting Meal with Wines Paired for each course, and will include the opportunity to meet and engage with Katie Madigan herself. As guests at the dinner you will have access to special reserve one-night-only pricing on bottles of the wines to go.
Pairing wine & food is an art, and these dinners are built in reverse. As in we taste and select the wine first, THEN craft the meal around them. In this way you'll come away with an excellent understanding of the wines - how you might drink, serve, share, and cook with them. (Full menu details including vegetarian options will be featured in the weeks to come).
The first seating will be at 5:30pm, the second at 8:00pm. We show guests to their tables 15 minutes prior to each seating and start promptly at the times listed.
Note: The tickets are $83, service charge & gratuity is included, eventbrite will add on their fees and appropriate taxes on checkout.

Celebrity Guest Chef - Erik Hopfinger
Erik has been working in the Bay for over 20 years during which he has opened over 30 restaurants - three of them three star ratings, one listed as Top 10 Restaurant, & he was named San Francisco Chonincle's Rising Star Chef in 2002. He was also on the successful TV series Top Chef season 4, and was friends with Anthony Bourdain.
St. Francis Winemaker, Katie Madigan. Part of the St. Francis team for 24 years, her reletless pursuit to make wines that reflect the beauty and uniqueness of each vintage is what got her to where she is today. Her vision has always been to "produce self-expressing, balanced wines from a region known most for its diverse terroir."

St. Francis has beautiful grounds, and is reknown of it's great cullinary program too.

The namesake of the winery, is also the patron saint that our incredible city is named after. St. Francis of Assisi is most famous for being the patron saint of animals. The first time I visited the winery happened to be one of their days that they do "blessings of the animals". You don't have to be catholic or even religious to think that's a great thing, we love the blessed animals that visit us here at Scopo, and they love animals there too. The next event they are hosting is in October.
