Welcome to Science Rendezvous and International Astronomy Day 2026!
Join us at SFU Burnaby campus for science activities, presentations, demonstrations, and tours of the Trottier Observatory and Mezozoic (Dinosaur) Garden! This event is hosted with our friends from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Vancouver in celebration of International Astronomy Day.
Connect with our university scientists and researchers, experience the magic of their scientific discoveries, and build your own breakthrough inventions that you can call your own! Come drop by anytime between 11:00 am-3:30 pm to engage with our science exhibitors.
No need to register for the free table activities, but please reserve your seats for the free shows!
MAGIC SCIENCE SHOW
Experience the magic of science through explosive and exciting demonstrations and displays! Watch how acid/base reactions can create a myriad of colours right in front of your eyes too! Admission is free, but registration for these shows on a first come first served basis is required. All ages welcome.
Show #1: 12:00 - 12:50 pm
Show #2: 2:00 - 2:50 pm
Room: B9200 (Large Biology Lecture Hall, off the Academic Quadrangle south hall)
There are TWO showtimes to choose from (12:00 and 2:00). Please click on the showtime you want, to register your tickets.

WALKING TOURS
Take a free tour of the Trottier Observatory and Science Courtyard. No registration is needed, but be prepared for a short wait.
Our beautiful new - or ancient - Mesozoic (Dinosaur) Garden is also open! Step back in time and stroll alongside plants that existed up to 260 million years ago.
