Our second event of the spring semester will be on Monday, April 20th, from 6–8 pm at Keg Grove. Our three presenters will be talking about urban mice, bacteria, and the green crab invasion. Three graduate students from three different biology research labs at ISU will present. Sylvia Fritz will talk about mice and “How Urbanization Influences Coloration.” Sharanya Paul will present on bacteria: “Fatty Acids Attack, Cholesterol Reacts: Life of Staphylococus aureus.” And finally, Charlotte Steiger will talk about “Green Crabs: Discussing One of the Most Invasive Nervous Systems in the World.”
Between each speaker will be a 5–10 minute break when you can purchase beverages, use the restroom, and answer fun trivia questions that pair with the talks. At the end of the night, there will be a large Q&A session where you can ask any science question you want to any scientists in the room, followed by a raffle for anyone who filled out the trivia to have a chance at winning some fun science-related prizes.
You are encouraged to bring food or have it delivered if you'd like to eat during the presentations, and don’t worry about arriving a little late.
Hope to see you there!
