Clean, Green Nano: Big Impact from Tiny Stuff
Understanding science at the molecular level is becoming increasingly important for the development of many new technologies. This is the realm of nanoscience, an inherently multidisciplinary approach to the study of materials at the nanoscale. Following an introduction to the basic concepts of nanoscience, Dr. Dutcher will discuss efforts at the University of Guelph to develop new nanomaterials that minimize environmental impact while providing high performance and functionality. He will illustrate this idea of sustainable nanomaterials with the PhytoSpherix technology – sugar-based nanoparticles from the kernels of sweet corn – developed in his lab.
Then, after some always engaging Q&A, Raoul Daz will take the floor to wow us all with some interactive demonstrations from the weird and wonderful nanoscopic world! See you there!
Remember - if you can't find parking in front of the venue, there is additional space around the corner at 490 York Road. Doors at 6:45 pm. Presentations will begin shortly after 7 pm.
