📅 Every First Thursday of the MonthThis Month: "How to make π." with Dr. Andrzej Piotrowski
The number π can be defined as the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. But, how does one calculate π? We'll explore several ideas that people historically used to represent π, including infinite series, infinite nested radicals, and infinite products. We'll also show how π turns up in unexpected places and offer a tantalizing unsolved mathematical mystery. This talk is for anyone who is interested in mathematics and its history. No particular prerequisite knowledge is needed.
